Why Music …?

I get a lot of people asking me, ‘Music?’ ‘Why’d you choose music as a career?’

Well … music has played a massive part in my life. To be a musician has been a dream of mine for a very, very long time. As a child, performing was always part of who I was. Whether is was singing or dancing, I was always on a stage – and I freaking loved it!

Where it all started …
I currently identify myself as a pop / ballad singer. I like singing a mixture of ballads and upbeat tracks. I’ve been performing on a stage since I was 5; dancing and began singing when I was 7. I started in the Children’s National Choir of Australia which formed the basic foundation of what I wanted to do as a career; perform. And when I was 11, I decided to start focusing on a solo career by commencing lessons at the David Jaanz School of Singing. I am still currently there being trained and mentored by David himself. I am in the Top 30 of the school and have received multiple rewards for my efforts and dedication as a musician. I have also started training to become a singing coach and mentor which I am SUPER excited about! I cannot wait to get started!! Moreover, dancing has also been a big hobby of mine for the past 13-14 years, which I have used to my advantage in live performances as a pop act.

I’ve taught myself basic piano and guitar easily off Youtube, though I also got the opportunity to learn clarinet and bass clarinet back in 2006.

Simply being on a stage is so natural and instantly makes me feel at home. In my final two years of high school I participated in my school musicals. In 2013, doing the production of ‘Footloose’, I got to play the lead of Urleen and in 2014’s West Side Story, I was honoured enough to receive the role of Anita :’) The stage is the only place where I feel like I can be my true self (despite playing character roles in musicals haha) and feel aliveeeee!

My love for singing, dancing and performing has always been a huge part of who I am. Performing on a stage is what makes me happy, and what simply makes me, me.

As a singer-songwriter, I truly hope to follow through with a career as a musician and hopefully, my university degree allows me to pursue any opportunities that will help me gain experience in the entertainment / music industry.

I’ll be posting music throughout my blog here, but in the mean time, go check out my YouTube channel or SoundCloud 🙂
