James ‘Bae’ Concert Review

On February 3rd 2016, James Bay took the stage in Festival Hall, Melbourne.

As the hall got dark, he emerged from behind a large white sheet, with a spotlight outlining his unique dangling long hair, signature black hat and guitar figure.

The hall produced fantastic acoustics and James Bay certainly didn’t fail to impress. The atmosphere was just so electric and alive, you could feel the energy go right through your whole body. His raspy, yet soft warm tones, my lorrd! Just fully mesmerising the audience with his brilliance.

As he soared through the playlist of his only album, Chaos and the Calm, Bay continuously brought more than 4,000 people to their feet. His vocal delivery was so raw and flawless – a complete replica of his recorded versions. He gave his performance 110% and (more…)

It’s all about authenticity …

“Clapping your hands when you like a band is way better than clicking some like button.”                                                                        – My Quote of the Week

Wow. When I first read this quote, I could not agree with it more!

Physically applauding a performance is very different to supporting a band or artist form behind a computer screen, it seems insensitive in a way. Don’t you think? Not only is the atmosphere and vibe different, but I believe the musician appreciates it more as they can see that you’ve gone out of your way to come see them. Not only is it a more enjoyable moment for them, but also for you – it’s more authentic, living in the moment.

What do you think? Do you agree? Let me know your thoughts 🙂

Why Music …?

I get a lot of people asking me, ‘Music?’ ‘Why’d you choose music as a career?’

Where it all started …
I currently identify myself as a pop / ballad singer. I like singing a mixture of ballads and upbeat tracks. I’ve been performing on a stage since I was 5; dancing and began singing when I was 7. I started in the Children’s National Choir of Australia which formed the basic foundation of what I wanted to do as a career; perform. And when I was 11, I decided to start focusing on a solo career by commencing lessons at the David Jaanz School of Singing. I am still currently there being trained and mentored by David himself. I am in the Top 30 of the school and have received multiple rewards for my efforts and dedication as a musician. I have also started training to become a singing coach and mentor which I am SUPER excited about! I cannot wait to get started!! Moreover, dancing has also been a big hobby of mine for the past 13-14 years, which I have used to my advantage in live performances as a pop act.

I’ve taught myself basic piano and guitar easily off Youtube, though I also got the (more…)
